Over the course of the past few weeks, the television channel, The Score, has hosted the reality show Drafted, which involves the company picking Canada's next sportscaster.

Over the course of the past few weeks, the television channel, The Score, has hosted the reality show Drafted, which involves the company picking Canada's next sportscaster. Now the show is over halfway done, I decided it was about time to catch up with North Battleford's own, Nate Jurgens, a competitor on the show and a teacher at John Paul II Collegiate.

CD: Who do you think is your biggest competition and why?

NJ: To be completely honest, I really couldn't pick one person. For people that have watched the show so far, they will have seen that everyone brings something different to thetable. All of us have different personalities that make us unique. I thinkeach of us appeals to a different demographic of viewers so it is up to the fans and the network to decide who they think is the best fit.

CD: What do you think of the character you're being portrayed as on the show?

NJ: For the most part I am feeling pretty alright with how I have been portrayed. There has been an episode or two where the way it was editedmade me look a bit different than I actually am, but that doesn't bother me.It is a reality show so they have to make things interesting in production to attract viewers and I understand that.

CD: What was the most difficult part of filming?

NJ: Filming was great. The schedule was busy, but itnever bothered me. The days of filming went long and then we would prepare for upcoming challenges in the evenings once we were done for the day. I think all of us were pretty beat downand tired once the filming was complete, but I have nothing but great things to say about the experience. I got to live out a part of my dream andspend all day hanging out at The Score studios with their amazing staff. It was socool to get to meet people that I had grown up watching and listening to. Anytime things seemed to get intense, I always reminded myself that so many people would love to have this opportunity.

CD: How does it feel to see yourself on TV?

NJ: A lot of people ask me if it's weird or uncomfortable to watch myself on TV but I actually don't feel uncomfortable watching it at all. I look forward to the show every week because I don't see the episode until it is aired to the public. It's cool to watch, because I know what happened during the days of filming but alot of different stuff comes out once each episode is edited andfinalized.

CD: If you were to win, when would you start your job on The Score?

NJ: As far as I know, the winner would start sometime in the New Year. I think it would be in January at some point.

Over the November long weekend, Jurgens will be flying to Toronto to film the eighth and final episode. The finale airs Monday, Nov. 12 and the winner will be announced.

"I would like to thank all of the dedicated people out there who have been supporting me up until this point through the online voting," Jurgens says. "The amount of votes that I see on Twitter everyday is unbelievable. It's really awesome that people have responded so well to this and have put me at the top of the public voting."
