River Heights Lodge held Family Fun Night events Sept. 19 and 20. A portion of each evening was spent on the soon-to-be-famous pie contest, complete with celebrity pie judges.

Wednesday, Hel Polischuk's lemon meringue pie won the top honours, followed by Jim Bruynooghe's pumpkin pie and RHL dietary's pecan pie.

Thursday, RHL Dietary won the contest for their pecan pie, Jim Bruynooghe again received second place for his pumpkin pie and the Adult Day Program came in third with their raisin pie.

Both days had celebrity judges, adding a dash of flair to the proceedings. Wednesday, it was Ian Hamilton, Herb Cox and Kevin Steinborn, deputy fire chief. Thursday saw Kevin Hasselberg, coach of the Battlefords North Stars, Chris Odishaw and Constable Dutchak of the Battlefords RCMP sampling the baking.
