The North Battleford Western Development Museum's Those Were the Days, Aug. 11 and 12, offer a summer stroll down memory lane.
Visitors are invited to discover the world of Saskatchewan in the 1920s. For the kids there's a petting zoo with chickens, geese, ducks, pigs, cow, horses, turkeys, a llama, and an alpaca. There's a dog show that will demonstrate agility and obedience, and give tips on dog training.
"Get your face painted! Swing on the jungle gym. Grab a balloon or get a tattoo," urges WDM Those Were the Days co-ordinator Cheryl Stewart.
Stewart says other children and youth activities include a survival challenge, sack and three-legged races, a colouring contest and spelling bee.
"Roll up your sleeves and hammer some nails or race against the clock to twist a nut onto a bolt," she adds.
There is a daily parade of power as vintage farm machines huff and puff, bounce and sputter their way around the Heritage Village. There is also a car rodeo and tractor driving demonstration through an obstacle course.
"Savour the sweet smell of threshed oats in the field as the threshers go about their work," Stewart invites. " Ride in a vintage vehicle like a 1925 McLaughlin, a 1929 Buick, or a 1928 firetruck. Or enjoy the bump and jostle of a horse drawn wagon."
There will be friendly volunteers around the village in buildings like the dairy, the telephone office, the elevator, the village merchant's home and the doctor's home, the farmhouse and barn, the school and the blacksmith shop.
A fashion show will feature of styles from the 1920s era.
Enjoy local entertainers will provide music and both days start with a pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m.
"When you work up an appetite, there'll be concessions to appease your hunger and thirst. The Battle of the Barbecues sends the smells of great food on the grill wafting across the village," Stewart says.
