Do you have your decorations up? A drive around town is a great way to get you in the Christmas spirit as there are many residents who have decorated their homes.

Most of the cast of Crink's Christmas sing merrily at the end as one of the productions offered Dec. 11 and 12 at UCHS.

Do you have your decorations up? A drive around town is a great way to get you in the Christmas spirit as there are many residents who have decorated their homes. Some are more creative with their displays pulsating to the music or twinkling in unison, or just lighting up the neighborhood.

This is a very busy week for events in Unity.

Tuesday and Wednesday, UCHS drama held their productions for the public. A comedy and a Christmas play were crowd pleasers. The drama club works hard from the start of the school year until production time to perfect comedic timing, dramatic monologues, costume and set preparation as well as many hours of practice. None could be done without the dedication of this season's directors, Mrs. Gilbert and Mr. Bick. The drama club will now be working on their spring productions as UCHS is hosting the drama festival in April

The Unity Kinsmen held their annual seniors' supper at St. Peter's Wednesday. A complimentary turkey dinner is cooked and served by local Kinsmen, K-40s, K-ettes and other volunteers. The meal is followed by local entertainment.

The Community Carol Festival is Sunday at the high school gym starting at 2 p.m., with admission by silver collection.

UCHS has a senior boys' basketball tourney this weekend. The school will also have Christmas spirit week next week as a fun way to wind down this semester before the break.

St. Peter's staff formed a caroling group and took part in community events downtown Dec. 6, and chose to lend their voices around town, especially our seniors' centres. This was an appreciated gesture by all who enjoyed the blessing of their voices.

Unity Public School is hosted an SCC sponsored Christmas lunch Dec. 20. Instead of a Christmas concert, staff and students will be part of a Christmas celebration the evening of Dec. 20. The evening will be full of fun activities like cookie decorating, bingo, family photos and indoor curling. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be provided and an iPad scavenger hunt will occur. Folks attending are asked to bring food items for the food bank.

The midget A hockey team sits has an undefeated record, so far. This weekend the peewees will host their home tournament. The Unity Miners will host a Christmas social recognizing their sponsors after their Dec. 21 game

This weekend, the curling club will host the Sask. Curling Tour Sifto Cash Spiel. This will bring terrific, live action curling to our rink, with many well-known "name" rinks we have seen in big cash spiels and television events before.

The Chamber of Commerce "Bundle of Bucks" promotion is now on, offering shop locally incentives. Shoppers will have a chance to win gift cards at local businesses when doing their Christmas shopping in Unity.

The annual Secret Santa campaign in Unity is on. Please help less fortunate families in our community by donating unwrapped new toys, teenage gifts, adult gifts or cash donations. Cash donations can be dropped off at Sears/Sisters Flowers or at Riou Law Office. Donations of gift items can be dropped off at Sisters Flowers/Sears, Co-op grocery or Just Jigs. To submit names of folks in need of this service contact Sharon Riou at 228-4264; Sandra Kelly 228-4232 or Lois Gilbert at 228-3231. Delivery Date will be Dec. 18, with the last day for submitting names Dec. 14. Wrapping and sorting and delivery night has changed to St. Peter's Parish Hall on 5th Avenue West.

Coffee row folks are discussing both local hockey and curling, as there are plenty of live action games to mull over each week. The weather always enters the conversation with its variety of temperatures and snowfall. And now that December is upon us, the subject of Christmas will be reviewed on occasion. So, you see we keep busy in Unity with activities and wisdom from our friends on coffee row. Until next week
