The Living Sky School Division Hall of Fame celebrated exceptional accomplishments of high school students from 15 schools Thursday.
NBCHS: Sixty-one students from North Battleford Comprehensive High School were named to the hall of fame, some with great distinction, meaning an average of 95 per cent or higher in the academics category and a provincial level accomplishment in the athletics and online news project categories.
A group of 16 NBCHS students were recognized for arts and culture, with great distinction, for the drama club's awards for best visual production and the Wayne Apostle Spirit of the Festival Award at the provincial drama festival. They were Ainslie Milley, Alex Anderson, Allysha Dyck, Cian Forester, Colton Hutchinson (who also won the best technical performance award), Emma-Leigh Gerlinsky, Erickson Ureta, Jessa Renwick, Kaileigh Hargreaves, Khonnis Wuttunee, Kjell Graupe, Pilar Bernal-Waters, Riley Campbell, Robyn Blackstar, Samantha Edwards and Tanner Jensen. Their entry, The Trojan Woman, was also nodded for runner-up best technical crew. At the regional level, it won best overall production.
Colton Hutchinson also received a third arts and culture nomination, with great distinction, shared with debate partner Emily Jackson, for second in the open category at the provincial debate championships. At those same championships, Atom Vayalinka received the Spirit of Debate Award for an arts and culture nomination with great distinction.
Jackson also received the 2014 Law Day Mock Trial Award for Best Prosecutor, and was honoured for academic excellence.

A number of students were nominated for academic and athletic excellence. They were Andrea Ornawka (provincial cross country running), Cole Simon (with great distinction in academics) (provincial track and field), Kiley Elmer (provincial cross country running) and Owen Lamb (provincial track and field).
Nominated for athletics were Alicia Pillar (provincial track and field), Brantley Wasmuth (provincial track and field), Drew Beavers (silver medal at provincial track and field, with great distinction), Justice Laroque (provincial track and field), Kaitlin Friesen (provincial cross country running), Kody Grigor (silver and gold medals at provincial track and field, with great distinction), Megan Atcheynum (provincial track and field), Megan Rathwell (provincial cross country running), Morgan Lamontagne (provincial track and field), Nahoni Tootoosis (bronze at provincial track and field, with great distinction) and Riley Boczulak (provincial track and field).
Under special projects, Bailey Lamontagne, Alissa Roche and Katrina Turnbull were nominated, with great distinction, for receiving silver medals in the Skills Canada competition. Turnbull was also nominated for academic excellence.
Student Representative Council Sr. Ring and Sr. Pin Jason Reimer and Jadie Fennig were nominated under leadership.
Heritage Christian School: Janelle Crawford was nominated for academic excellence, with great distinction.
Nicole Klippenstein was nominated for academic excellence.
Zachary York was nominated for athletics, for cross country running at the provincial level.
Maymont: Twenty-four students from Maymont School were honoured including academic excellence nominees Aliyah Wasmuth (with great distinction), Arielle Hamp, Carlee Hamilton (with great distinction), Darby Milman, Jan Friesen (with great distinction), and Kathryn Serhienko.
Nominated for athletic excellence was the senior boys soccer team that went to provincials. They were Alex Batten, Brady Ferris, Brayden Harris, Connor Garrett, Jesse Greenslade, Jordan Manson, Justin Whitehead, Marco Rodriguez, Matthew Favel and Sean Brehon, who was also nominated for academic excellence. Nominated for both senior boys soccer and senior boys curling, going to regionals, were Richie Acaster, Ty Fouhy and Tyson Wawryk. Connor Rothenburger was nominated on the curling team also.
In other athletics, Autumn Amson and Jocelyn Bzdel were nominated for track and field (provincials).
Nominated for leadership was Kcarli Maxwell, Student Leadership Council president.
Hafford: Thirty Hafford Central School students were honoured, 28 of them for athletics, several in more than one sport. The senior boys volleyball team nominated for reaching regional play included Chayce Nykiforuk, Cole Fendelet (also nominated for track and field, provincial level), Dawson Lehmann (also nominated for academic excellence), Joseph Tanchak, Kolten Yasieniuk, Lucas Lafreniere (also nominated for track and field), Matthew Flath, Michael Herman (also nominated for leadership as a member of the Student Leadership Council), Nathan Boyko, Riley Yasieniuk, Ryan Krsacok (also nominated for track and field) and Tyler Yasieniuk.
Others nominated for track and field were Aiden Sitter (with great distinction) and Joel Gryzbowski.
Nominated for athletics as members of the both the senior girls basketball and volleyball teams that went to regionals were Ashley Kowalchuk, Brittany Bezmutko (also nominated for academic excellence, with great distinction), Frankie Yasieniuk (also nominated for leadership), Haylie Lesko, Kalin Sitter, Morgan Attrux and Rayleen Roth (who was also nominated for academic excellence). Also on the senior girls basketball team were Anna Nesbitt and Tyra Smith. Other members of the volleyball team were Tara Dishko, Jenny Markewich and Jocelyn Fendelet (who were also nominated for leadership) and Brittany Attrux. Also on the volleyball team was Megan Jones, nominated not only for volleyball but for track and field, leadership as a member of the student council and as yearbook editor and for academic excellence (with great distinction).
Honoured for academic excellence were Kirsty Kindrachuk (with great distinction) and Quinn Anhorn.
Cando: Members of Cando's provincial bronze medal winning soccer team were nominated, with great distinction. They were Breighton Wahobin, Bryton Wahobin, Chaystin Armstrong, Creedance Gladue, Davis Starchief, Grayson Stone, Hunter Moosomin, Jayden Rowan, Kashtin Montour and Sylice Bruno.
For special projects, media club members Chase Albert, Danielle Cuthand and Kendra Fayant Littlebear were nominated.
Cut Knife: Six students from Cut Knife High School have been nominated to the 2014 Student Hall of Fame. They are Aleksi Anseth for academic excellence, Betty Pewapsconias for special projects (Day of Pink videos), Brennan Steinhauer for athletics (provincial cross-country running), Delaniee Antoine-Tootoosis for special projects (Teens for Jeans Campaign), Jayden Waldner for athletics (provincial track and field), Keri Rak for athletics (provincial track and field) and Natasha Wasmuth for special projects (Me to We 'WE Scare Hunger' Campaign).
Wilkie: Forty-five students from McLurg High School were nominated to the hall of fame in the categories of academic excellence, athletics, and leadership. Several students earned gold in badminton at the provincial level (with great distinction). The senior girls volleyball team won a provincial bronze medal (with great distinction), the senior girls and mixed curling teams went to regionals, as did the senior boys volleyball team. A number of students also attended provincials in track and field, wrestling and cross-country running.
