Michael Lorsch and Tania Cheng came from Toronto to McKitrick Community School to offer Grade 4-8 students education about global food security through the PotashCorp Food Security Speaking Tour.

They celebrated the work McKitrick's Me to We Club has been doing this year and challenged the school and students to keep working to make a difference in the community and the world.

After their presentation, Michael and Tania facilitated a workshop with 25 students for the rest of the day teaching leadership skills, helping students to tap into their passions to commit themselves to taking action to make the world a better place.

McKitrick's Me to We club has raised money through a community garage sale, bottle drives, bake sales, canteens, frosty Fridays, and penny drives. The students have sent money to help clean water initiatives in developing countries. They have given money and food to the local food bank.

The club members have shovelled snow in the neighbourhood and have educated other students at McKitrick about global issues.

The club now has a Facebook page, Me to We McKitrick, that offers student a place to share ideas and develop youth leadership skills.
