Four students from Grades 7 to 10 of École Père Mercure school participated in the annual Expo-Sciencesprovincial science fair held in Regina March 17 and 18. They had a chance to present their science fair projects in front of judges for a chance to compete at a national level and represent Saskatchewan.

Attraction Chimique of the University of Laval Quebec staged a CSI scene in the school. The students were involved in solving the case by using different techniques such as DNA, ink pen and finger prints. They eliminated three of the four suspects to determine who committed the murder.

The second day, the chemists worked with the students in the kitchen and used various forms of chemistry to create imitation caviar made from maple syrup and balsamic vinegar dropped in very cold vegetable oil cooled by dry ice.

They also made their own soda pop and ice cream in minutes using dry ice.
