Storm keeps two teams away from open spiel

On the weekend of March 22-24, the Edam Curling club held their annual open bonspiel. There were 14 teams. Sixteen were entered, but two were unable to attend as they were snowed in by the storm.

On the weekend of March 22-24, the Edam Curling club held their annual open bonspiel. There were 14 teams. Sixteen were entered, but two were unable to attend as they were snowed in by the storm.

The winner of the garden shed donated by Ray Suderman of RAW Construction was Terry Tait of Meota.

Teams were from Edam, Meota, Turtleford, St. Walburg, Medstead, and Lloydminster. The results are as follows: A Event -first Richard Doom, second Lindsey Holmes of St. Walburg, third Barry Weitzel, fourth Roland Olson; B Event- first Larry McDaid, second Lloyd Lavigne of Lloydminster, third Barry Starling of Medstead, fourth Andy Russett; C Event- first Pat Becotte of Meota, second Brandon Doom, third Kevin Forbes of St. Walburg, fourth Bernard LaClare of Edam. Congratulations to all the curlers on an excellent bonspiel.

The curling club would like to thank all of their volunteers who worked the kitchen and smoker over the weekend and all of the sponsors who made this year a success. See you on the ice next season.

Winners of the March trip of the month draw were Allan and Rose Ray of Meota and winning the $100 were Bernard and Lynette LaClare.

The Edam Credit Union Ltd. is holding their annual general meeting April 17. Contact the credit union for your tickets. As well everyone is invited to gather at the Edam Community Centre from 8:30 - 10 p.m. for coffee and socializing to celebrate LeAnn Thom's retirement as general manager of the Edam Credit Union.
