We express condolences to the Nimilowich family, who lost a husband and father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dawn Gray owner of the Maymont Hotel put on a wings and beer night to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The bar was nicely decorated for the occasion and everyone had a great evening. Glen Penner was the winner of the four-leaf clover scratch and win draw winning $50.
We would like to thank Gary Fjellgaard, Darrell and Saskia for a wonderful performance. Thank you also to the Maymont Park committee who made the show possible.
For more than 40 years Gary Fjellgaard has been making a living on the road with a guitar and a song. He delights his audiences with his masterful acoustic guitar, gentle vocals, riveting yodeling and tales of his life in the woods. Fjellgaard takes his music to the people with a rare sincerity.
Fjellgaard and his wife Lynne have four daughters and many grandchildren.
Fjellgaard has won a host of Canadian Country Music Association awards, as well as accolades from CARAS West Coast Tribute Awards and the British Columbia Country Music Association, which in 2004 inducted him into the BCCMA Hall of Fame.
Fjellgaard has appeared at the Big Valley Jamboree, Merritt Mountain Music Festival, and Canada Day celebration on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, and he has toured with Johnny Cash and Ronnie Prophet.
Our own Darrel Delaronde and Saskia often tour with Fjellgaard. On their own, they are a powerful presence in their field, winning people's choice awards, hitting the mumber four spot on MSN Radio's National Top 30 Countdown, and being nominated for Album of the Year, Aboringinal Artist of the Year (times three), as well as Songwriter of the Year in Saskatchewan. Saskia and Darrel remain a perennial favourite on the Indy Euro Stations.
