Every spring, we are reminded of the Canadian Cancer Society's ongoing quest to defeat cancer as bright yellow daffodils begin appearing at various Battlefords businesses. Wednesday, March 20 is the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Tea.

Every spring, we are reminded of the Canadian Cancer Society's ongoing quest to defeat cancer as bright yellow daffodils begin appearing at various Battlefords businesses. Wednesday, March 20 is the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Tea. It will be held at their office at 1141-101st St. in North Battleford from 2 to 4 p.m. Join them for tea and you may also purchase daffodils by the bunch in this annual fundraiser. March 19 through 23, daffodils will also be on sale at Battlefords Union Hospital, Territorial Place Mall, Frazer's No Frills and the North Battleford Liquor Store outlet.

Easter is on its way. Get ready by attending the Easter Bake Sale at the Co-op Mall Thursday, March 21. It starts at 9:30 a.m. It's not your usual bake sale. In addition to baking, including the traditional Ukrainian Easter breads paskas and babkas, look for, cabbage rolls, perogies and more. This Easter bake sale is being sponsored by the North Battleford branch of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada.

For all those who can hardly wait until spring arrives, Seedy Saturday is for you. Vendors, displays and demonstrations will be set up at the Chapel Gallery on Saturday, March 23 from noon until 4 p.m. Seedy Saturday is all about gardening and local food, featuring open-pollinated garden seeds for sale and exchange as well as seed saving and permaculture workshops.

If you are Grand Old Opry fans, the Country Music Show being held at Cut Knife Curling Rink may be just what you're looking for. It's only a short drive to enjoy look-alike artists paying tribute to Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, George Strait, Terri Clark, John Denver, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Shania Twain, Randy Travis and Willie Nelson. But that's not all. There will be lots of other live music, DJ dance music, door prizes and more.

More out of town musical entertainment can be found in Medstead. Bring your instruments and dancing shoes to the Musical Jam Session at Medstead Hall Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. for some fun. Musicians, singers, entertainers and listeners are all welcome.

Maybe a Sunday brunch would be a great way to start the day. This Sunday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus Hall in North Battleford for sausages, ham, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, fruit cocktail, toast, apple and orange juice plus coffee. The poster says "all you can eat" for $7.
