"Spring' break doesn't mean it's spring

Waseca News

It was back to school Feb. 22 for all students after a week of spring break. It seems to me that, even though we are having spring-like weather with temperatures above zero, spring is not here yet by any means. Perhaps calling the week off spring break made everyone feel better.

Many people took advantage of the week off to do some travelling. Even the Waseca school bus driver, Sandra Sutherland, spent the week travelling in Mexico. Sandra, Crystal Sutherland, Jaimie Sutherland and his friend Laurie and two of Laurie's friends flew from Calgary. They stayed at a very enjoyable resort at Playa del Carmen. Some of their adventures included visiting the pyramid ruins, a cultural tour and a show which featured old Mexican customs. They enjoyed their accommodations and the food.

Waseca Village Council has moved to their former office and were open for business again on Feb. 16.

Kenneth and Carol Sutherland are presently away on holiday and will return on Feb. 26. The trip took them to the Dominican Republic. Each year CKSA, Lloydminster hosts a trip that anyone can sign up for. This year Kenneth and Carol took advantage of the trip, which hosts about 60 people. Ethel and Les Smith of Maidstone also took advantage of this opportunity.

Grace (Sutherland) Flewell of Red Deer, Alta. will be visiting with her sister, Sandra, and other family members at Waseca.
