Saskatchewan-based singer/songwriter duo Saskia and Darrel are preparing to sing their last few local shows of the season before heading out for new horizons.

Chapel Galley in North Battleford is to be the venue for a Remembrance Day concert Nov. 9.

A small part of the concert is dedicated to raising awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder victims. PTSD has disabled many Canadian soldiers after their tours of peacekeeping duties in war-torn countries.

The two-hour concert will feature songs about war brides emigrating to the prairies in the late 1940s, a heartfelt paean (The Porchlight) for children who died serving overseas, a stirring tribute to veterans (The Eleventh Hour) and many of their upbeat original songs.

After a Christmas tour of Alberta with friend Gary Fjellgaard, the songbirds have three months of touring in British Columbia before "winging" off to Europe for their fourth tour of Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Saskia's homeland of Holland.

Their next confirmed sighting on the plains of Saskatchewan won't be until June of 2013.
