Snow fall inching up on five feet

The snowfall doesn't seem to let up! Even though there is not a great deal each day it adds up. Jim Maxwell, who keeps an official weather station, reports that we have had over 50 inches of snow since the month of October.

Jim Maxwell, who keeps an official weather station, reports that we have had over 50 inches of snow since the month of October. With the windy weather we have experienced this winter much of it has blown into huge drifts. It is many years since I have had so much snow drifted in my yard.

Sunday was St. Patrick's Day. It was interesting to see so many people wearing "the green".

That evening many folks enjoyed a stew and biscuit supper, sponsored by the Waseca Playground Committee, in the Waseca Hall, a simple but delicious supper.

Entertaining us throughout the supper hour, 5 to 7 pm, were members of the Yellowhead Ramblers. We all enjoyed their music that had many Irish tunes and other familiar "toe-tapping" music. The vocalists in the band sang to many of the familiar tunes. There was a recitation, to music, by Bill McGivery, joke by Allan Hinde and even audience participation when Doug McLaine, who had Irish parentage, sang a solo.

It was good to see so many young people sporting St. Patrick hats, and wearing smiles, enjoying serving guests.

The evening also included door prizes.

The Yellowhead Ramblers, who appear to enjoy working together, bring much joy to seniors' homes. They were at Pine Island Lodge March 16 presenting a "St. Patrick's Jam." It sounds as though their music was appreciated.
