Snow and cold weather keep quilters busy

Rivers' Edge Quilters have been busy finishing up projects before the warm weather takes them outdoors.

Rivers' Edge Quilters have been busy finishing up projects before the warm weather takes them outdoors.

The meeting in March had to be cancelled due to blizzard conditions and the April meeting was postponed due to other activities at the Don Ross Centre. However, on April 12 about 20 members gathered for a monthly meeting and the election of new officers for the following year. Elected were: president - Carol Johnson; secretary - Darlene Hiltz; and treasurer - Pat Downie. A big thank you to the outgoing executive for a job well done.

Memberships were to remain at $30 a year and new members are always welcome.

A new banner was presented to our club. It was designed and made by a guild member and its unique design reflects the talent of some members.

Plans were discussed for our wind up banquet in May and final preparations made.

A class on the ways of handling quilt panels to the best advantage was presented April 20 by a guest from Quilters' Haven in Moose Jaw.

Several members will be displaying and selling their quilts and other items in the Battlefords Art Club show and sale at the Chapel Gallery. It will be a chance to see and/or purchase some of the quilts and other items made by some of our quilters.

Following the meeting a Show and Tell session brought forth many completed quilts including the mystery quilts, taught by Irene last month, a panel quilt, a jelly reel quilt, plus many other very lovely quilts. Some unique and interesting labels were noted on these quilts.

New members are always welcome and encouraged to call Irene at 306-937-3551 or Barb at 306-445-0486 for information about the guild.
