Silver medal in curling at Sask. Winter Games

Congratulations to Team Burnett who captured the silver medal at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert over the weekend. In pool A round robin they won three and lost one, then won the first playoff game against Lakeland.

Congratulations to Team Burnett who captured the silver medal at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert over the weekend. In pool A round robin they won three and lost one, then won the first playoff game against Lakeland. They lost 6 - 4 to Â鶹´«Ã½AVwest in the gold medal game. Representing Rivers West, playing with Dallas Burnett were Tyler Camm, Andrew Derksen and Eric Westad.

At the Borden Friendship Club cash bingo Feb. 20 about 24 players came out to enjoy the game. Winning cash were Florence Neufeld, Kim Worona and her daughter Katelyn, Eileen Petrun, Marcelle Desrosier, Gerry Wainwright, Kay Leech, Audrey Duda and Pat Trischuk, who won twice. The last bingo for the season will be March 20 at 7 p.m.

When the five ladies of Radisson Royal Purple judged 100 posters from Borden and Maymont Central schools at their last meeting, assisting them were Claire Glennon and Phyliss Domashovitz of Radisson.

The 12 winning posters from four categories have been taken in to the provincial Elks association in Saskatoon, to be judged in March for provincial awards. Ladies of Radisson OORP will be going to Borden and Maymont Schools in the next while to award prize money, certificates and smarties to each student who participated.

The ladies started in the late afternoon at the Radisson Seniors' Centre, enjoying supper together before holding their monthly meeting. The Royal Purple donated to the Hafford Music Festival, to Telemiracle and to the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children.

Orolow Ukrainian Catholic Church, east of Redberry Lake, held their annual snowmobile rally Feb. 22, with 150 riders out to enjoy the 60-mile trail around Redberry Lake. Winning prize money were Lincoln Swystun - $915, Larry Sehr of Waldheim - $550, Devra Levesque - $365 and, winning prizes of $140 each, Kent Roberts, Clint Lucyshyn and Annie Swytsun.

The Borden Museum is holding an evening of whist in the seniors' room, Feb. 27, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Shrove Tuesday is March 4, and the Borden Anglican and United churches are hosting a pancake and sausage supper in the Borden Seniors' Room from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Admission is by goodwill offering. Everyone is welcome to both events. In Radisson the Lutheran Church is holding the supper from 5 to 7 p.m.
