Sewing away the summer months

Although business meetings were suspended during the summer months for members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild, many avid quilters met at the Don Ross Craft Room to pursue their passion for the art during the months of June, July and August.

Although business meetings were suspended during the summer months for members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild, many avid quilters met at the Don Ross Craft Room to pursue their passion for the art during the months of June, July and August.

The accompanying photos show the results of their labours, a few finished, others still "works in progress."

But as September approaches, all members eagerly anticipate the beginning of the new season with opportunities to participate on an optional basis in further instruction by knowledgeable people, individual projects and involvement in community charity ventures. A display of quilting at the Chapel Gallery in November will provide an interesting challenge for all. Not to be forgotten is the chance to renew friendships as well as make new friends during the social times that such an activity provides.

Business meetings take place at 1 p.m. on the first Friday of the month in the Don Ross Craft Room and new members are invited to attend to meet current members, all of whom will be delighted to help should this be a new skill for newcomers.

Appreciaiton is extended to the outgoing executive for their hard work - Irene Greer, Ester Johnson, Carol Johnson and Pat Downie. And a warm welcome to the new executive - Carol Johnson, Darlene Hiltz, Pat Downie and Irene Greer. This year is sure to be an exciting one.

If you would like more information, please call Carol at 306-455-4352, Darlene at 306-445-4403 or Barb at 306-445-0486.
