July 29 the Lakeside Golf Course in Meota hosted the Meota Seniors' Golf Tournament. Sixty-four seniors took part in the event teeing off at 10 a.m. to play the first nine holes. At about noon they all gathered at the clubhouse for a luncheon then ventured back out on the links for another nine holes.

Everyone had a great day with the weatherman co-operating fairly well to boot. Many new friends were made and those who were lucky shared in the many cash prizes. Participants came from Meadow Lake, Maidstone, Turtleford, Mervin, Edam, North Battleford and most of the resort villages around the lake.

The committee would like to thank the businesses that donated money for the prizes. They hope to see everyone again next year on the last Monday of July, as always, for another go. The nice weather has been ordered and the course booked. Thanks again to all of the sponsors and participants.

In contract bridge on Aug. 5, first place went to Vern Iverson with Robert Iverson coming in second. It must be in that family gene somewhere.
