The monthly meeting of the Maidstone Drop-In Centre was held May 3 with a better then usual attendance. Margaret MacEachern was in the chair. Dates were set for the Father's Day tea June 14 and the May, June, July potluck on June 19 at noon. Screening for the eavestrough was decided upon. Judith Holmberg is to replace Dorothy Schwartz on the special events committee. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.

A former member Margaret Newsted passed away in Maidstone Hospital at age 94 on April 23 and funeral service was held at the Maistone United Church April 30.

Anyone wishing to go to the Maidstone Cemetery has to go north on Highway 21 to Highway 16, turn west for two miles, south on new Highway 21 for one mile and east to the cemetery. The bridge just south of the town is unsafe to cross due to flooding over and around the bridge.

Cards were played on May 6 with Margaret MacEachern providing lunch. High score went to Denise Newton and low to Bev Stewart.

Bingo was played May 8 with a good turnout. Joan Smith did the calling. Games were played straight through to allow those who wanted to attend the Mother's Day hospital auxiliary tea and bake sale at the Legion Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. Lunch was provided by Joan Smith and Jean Hartman for those remaining at the centre.

Crows, robins and geese are back. Gophers have been seen. Pussy willows and crocuses are in bloom, so I guess spring has arrived at last. We hope.
