Seniors pitch in to support Telemiracle

Cards were played Feb. 24 at the Maidstone Drop In Centre with Dorothy Schwartz hosting and supplying lunch. High score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low went to Dorothy Kissick. It was a cold day at -40 C with the wind chill. Bingo was played Feb.

Bingo was played Feb. 26 with Bev Stewart and Jean Hartman doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman.

The funeral service for a former member, Theresa Kennedy, was held at the Legion Hall Feb. 27. After a lengthy illness, Theresa passed away at the Maidstone Hospital at age 77 years.

During the month of February, profit form cards, bingo and donations raised $138.05 for Telemiracle. Thank you to all who donated.

Cards were held March 3. High score went to Bev Stewart and low to Jean Hartman. Lunch was provided by Margaret MacEachern and served by Jean Stewart.

Bingo was played March 5 with Shannon Smith and Bev Stewart doing the calling. Dorothy Harmel and Bev Stewart provided lunch.

The regular monthly meeting was held March 6 as the World Day of Prayer was being held Friday, our regular meeting day.

President Margaret MacEachern presided, home after a two-month holiday at Prince George, B.C. with her family.

A presentation was made by Vince Gerlinsky regarding an update on our present sound system. Four different proposals were made and a vote taken. Vince will be doing the job. His company is Gully View Electric. While at the Drop In he replaced the burned out bulbs in all the exit lights.

Gerald Hartman has volunteered to replace his dad as handyman at the centre.

A grant for replacement of the porch carpet has been approved.

A stew and biscuit luncheon has been updated to March 12 at noon, so as not to conflict with the Lenten luncheons that start March 19.

Nominations for the positions for the upcoming year were taken care of. Sharon Smith is to contact those not present at the meeting. Following the meeting Dorothy Schwartz provided lunch.

Cards were played March 10 with high score going to Jean Hartman and low to Jean Stewart. Bev Stewart provided lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day.
