Seniors gather for a Christmas supper

Cribbage was played Dec. 9 at the Maidstone Drop In Centre with high score going to Denise Newton and low to Joan Hartman. Lunch was provided by Margaret MacEachern for Bev Stewart.

The Christmas tree was up and the centre decorated for the Christmas supper Dec. 13. The elementary school children came and assisted with setting up tables, chairs and table decorations under the supervision of several teachers.

Bingo was played prior to the setup with Denise Newton and Cheryl McCaskill doing the calling.

The monthly meeting followed with Denise Newton chairing. The next meeting will be Jan. 8 at 2:45 p.m.

The seniors’ centre Christmas party was held Dec. 13. Denise Newton was MC and introduced guests, Mayor Brennan Beacotte and Reeve Garry Taylor, who brought greetings from the Town of Maidstone and RM of Eldon. Prior to a delicious meal catered by the Catholic Ladies Altar Society, a blessing was sung by the 37 people in attendance.

During the evening door prizes donated by Cheryl McCaskill were won by Margaret MacEachern, Linda Sewell, Joyce Orange, Peter Prociuk, Vera Hintz, Darlene Shuster, Joyce Weston and Caroline Smith.

Entertainment was provided by Vince Gerlinsky on his keyboard and Garry Talyor on guitar.

Christmas cake and oranges were served at the end of a most enjoyable evening.

Cribbage was played Dec. 6 with high score going to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Jean Hartman. Christmas cake and oranges from the Christmas supper were enjoyed at lunch.

Next cribbage will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 6.
