The monthly meeting of the Maidstone Drop In Centre was held March 8 with Margaret MacEachern in the chair. Profit made from cards and bingo for the month of February was sent to Telemiracle and amounted to $132.
Because of the low attendance at our different card games it was decided to just have games each Monday at 2 p.m., starting the first Monday in April. Those in attendance can play any game they choose including Scrabble, Tile Rummy, checkers or cards. A new card game called "Golf" will be included. This will be a trial run to the end of June to see if it improves attendance.
We were pleased to hear that Greyhound bus may stop and pick up in Maidstone once again. Hopefully sometime in April.
Our annual meeting will be held on April 5 at 2 p.m.
Bingo was played Wednesday, March 6 with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Jean Stewart assisted by Norma Hougan. The loonie pot was won by Bev Stewart.
Cards was played Monday, March 11. High score went to Jean Stewart and low to Jean Hartman. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.
Bingo was played March 13 with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch provided by Lil McMillan assisted by Denise Newton.
A stew and biscuits luncheon was held at noon March 15. It was well attended by 33 people. Dessert and refreshments were included. Following lunch a number of seniors stayed and played shuffleboard, cribbage and a newly introduced game called Golf.
On March 12 a member of our centre, George Danychuck, passed away at the age of 89. Although he and his wife Rose lived over 20 miles out in the country they attended events at the centre whenever possible.
