The Borden Friendship Club hosted seniors from Radisson and Maymont at their annual supper and program June 11, with 70 guests enjoying the great meal catered by Dianne and Bernice.

Terry Petriew and Anne Palmers told jokes, then Ed Neufeld introduced The Warman Strings - John Peters on steel guitar, John Klassen on banjo, Julius Unger on bass guitar; John Loeppky played guitar, harmonica and sang and Ben Fehr played guitar, sang and yodelled. They played a number of instrumentals and sang other songs. John yodelled three songs including In the Beautiful Valley. They did a number of gospel tunes, told jokes and entertained everyone for over an hour.

Maymont and Radisson guests thanked Borden for the supper and program and Maymont invited the clubs to Maymont Aug. 22. A door prize was won by Dianne Rawlyk. (photo)

Borden and Speers United Church had a guest minister doing the service June 16 - Rev. Cathy Coates of Saskatoon, the hospital chaplain for River Bend United Church Presbytery. Borden had members from the Anglican Church join them, and a traveller passing through on his way to the Yukon. Following the service at which Cathy talked of her work in the three Saskatoon hospitals, everyone enjoyed coffee and a potluck lunch in the north wing of the church.

Congratulations to Amanda Walker, daughter of Darryl and Peggy Walker of Borden, on receiving her doctor of medicine degree at the University of Saskatchewan convocation in May.

The Sask Lions Ride for Dog Guides stopped in Borden the morning of June 14. After introducing the motorcycle riders and the accompanying vehicle drivers, president of Borden Lions John Buswell presented them with a cheque from the local Lions Club and from individual donors.

The motorcade started in Prince Albert at 7:30 a.m., departed the Saskatoon Credit Union Centre parking lot at 10 a.m., stopped in Borden and then went on to Battleford Lions' Hall for lunch. The ride concluded at Lloydminster and is held in conjunction with the Lloydminster Lions Border Bike Rally and the car club show and shine.

Last year they raised over $10,500 for the dog guides program. Each rider pays $25 to register and receives a T-shirt and patches. If they have pledges over $50, they do not pay the $25.
