The Catholic Ladies' Altar Society served a delicious, traditional Christmas supper. Following this, MC Denise Newton introduced guest Mayor Connie McCulloch who gave greetings of the season from the Town of Maidstone and read a Christmas poem. Guest Reeve Garry Taylor brought Christmas greetings on behalf of the municipality. The senior members put on an old fashioned concert made up of readings, skits, poems and jokes. The concert ended with the guests singing Christmas carols accompanied by Vincent Gerlinsky on the keyboard. Coffee, Christmas cake, made by Joyce Jeffery, and oranges were served by the seniors. From comments heard since, everyone enjoyed the evening.

Dec. 10, Kaiser was played at the centre with high score going to Margaret MacEachern and low to Dorothy Kissick. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.

Bingo was played Dec. 12 with a really good turnout. Margaret MacEachern and Denise Newton did the calling. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan assisted by Denise Newton. The loonie pot was won by so many it was left until the next week.

Catch the 10 Whist was played Dec. 17. High score went to Jean Hartman, who also supplied lunch, and low went to Jean Stewart.

Another former member, Leona Bone, who resided at the Pine Island Lodge, passed away. Her funeral was held at the Maidstone United Church Dec. 3.

I would like to wish all the readers a happy New Year.
