Seniors' activities to support Telemiracle

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 2, with a good turnout. Margaret MacEachern and Jean Hartman did the calling. Lunch was provided by Noel Coulthard. The loonie pot divided between Margaret MacEachern, Noel Coulthard and Dorothy Schwartz.

The regular monthly meeting was held Jan. 4 with Margaret MacEachern in the chair. A moment's silence was held to remember the members who passed away in 2012. They were Irene Alsager, Joe Stakiw, John Jesse, Alice Duffey, Jessie Betcher, Eva Inkster and Liona Bone. Final arrangements were made for the fundraiser "chili on a bun" Jan. 15 at noon. The raffle of a quilt, squares made by Edna Flaman and quilted by Margaret MacEachern ,will be put on display in the centre. Tickets will be $2 each or three for $5. The draw will be made at the Father's Day tea June 14. Profit made from cards or bingo in February will go to Telamiracle. Following the meeting was lunch provided by Dorothy Schwartz.

Cards for Jan. 7 were cancelled due to members away or sick.

Jan. 9, bingo was held with Dorothy Harmel and Shannon Smith doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman and served by Dorothy Harmel.

Former member Birdie Harris passed away at the age of 93. Her funeral was held at the Elks Hall in St. Walburg Jan. 9. She loved to play Cribbage and never missed a game at the centre and continued to play with friends and relatives when she moved to the Pine Island Lodge.

Kaiser was played Jan. 14 at the centre. High went to Jean Hartman and low to Lil McMillan. Lil also supplied lunch.
