Senior boys' volleyball qualify for provincials

Congratulations to the Borden senior boys' volleyball team who played in regionals Nov. 17 in Perdue with six teams competing in two pools. The boys beat out Pierceland and Loon Lake in two sets, then in the semifinal beat Glaslyn in two sets.

Congratulations to the Borden senior boys' volleyball team who played in regionals Nov. 17 in Perdue with six teams competing in two pools. The boys beat out Pierceland and Loon Lake in two sets, then in the semifinal beat Glaslyn in two sets. In the gold medal game against Medstead, Borden won one set and Medstead won two sets, capturing the plaque and gold medals. Going on to provincials at Medstead Nov. 23 and 24 is Medstead as host team, Borden and Glaslyn. Good luck, Borden boys.

Congratulations to Jack and Linda Yuskiw of Radisson with the birth of granddaughter Katelyn Marie, born Nov. 8 to Ryan and Amy Neher of Langham. She weighed nine pounds, 11 ounces.

Condolences are extended to Linda and Jack and family on the passing of Linda's mother Mary Brick, Nov. 10, who was originally from Netherhill but had resided at the Borden Care Home the last few months. Her memorial service will be held in the spring at Kindersley.

The Borden Friendship Club held a Kaiser Tournament in their club room Nov. 13, with 20 out to play. Winning cash for high hands were Jean Sawchyn and Terry Petriew; low hand was Lorraine Olinyk. Next Kaiser tournament is Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.

The seniors' club November potluck is Nov. 28, with birthdays being celebrated for October, November and December. Their Christmas supper and program is Dec. 5. Please contact Lorraine Olinyk at 997-2159 by Nov. 29 if you plan to attend, to let caterers know how many.

The Borden Dance Club held their Christmas recital Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Borden Community Centre. The hall was full for the event. There were over 50 items for the silent auction and the 50/50 of $206 went to Warren Albus of Langham. The tables were decorated with turquoise and silver cloths over black cloths and centrepieces of silver snowflakes with a fibre optic decoration. There was a silver and white archway as you entered, with dance figurines attached. The stage had a black backdrop with silver stars on the side panels.

Guest dancer was Elizabeth Erker of Saskatoon. The instructors are Miss Amy, who danced with the older dancers, and Miss Kaylea, who danced solo. Tiny tots Alex, Julia, Grace and Brielle danced to I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, while Jade, Mearah, Talon, Darbi, Lyla and Jasmyn danced to The Nutcracker.

Tap numbers: Julia H., Julia S., Sydney, Teaira and Cheyanne chose Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree; Savannah, Danika, Abigail, Rachel, Natalie and Nikita danced to Jingle Bells; and Sara, Emma Rose, Emma Rae and Robynn tapped to Five More Days 'til Christmas.

Ballet numbers: Julia S., Katelyn, Ava, Kyra, Teaira, Cheyanne, Savannah, Maya and Tamara danced to One Toy Soldier; Danika, Leanne, Rachel, Natalie and Sara used the song Do You Hear What I Hear?; and Jasmine, Emma Rae and Robynn danced to White is In the Winter Night.

Jazz numbers: Sydney, Teaira, Cheyanne, Jade, Brooke, Nicole, Tamara and Maya danced to Extraordinary Merry Christmas; Savannah, Kirsten, Danika, Natalie, Rachel, Leanne, Breanna, Abigail and Angellaya danced to The Greatest Time of the Year; Nikita, Sara and Terri danced to My Only Wish; and All I Want for Christmas was danced to by Kristie, Sheridan, Emma Rae, Jasmine, Jahnessa, Emma Rose and Robynn.

The first hip hop song chosen was Drummer Boy with lively dancing done by Noah, Savannah, Tamara, Maya, Aryn, Breanna, Nicole and Abigail. Then, before the grand finale, the hip hop 2 and 3 classes really livened up the stage to Red Green - Danika, Brooke, Natalie, Kirsten, Rachel, Leanne, Nikita, Sara, Mackenzie, Terri, Emma Rae, Jahnessa, Emma Rose, Kristie, Sheridan, Jasmine, Robynn, Jesse and Janene. Dancers unable to attend the recital were Brooke B., Brooklyn G., Sarah S. and Trissa M.

After the very entertaining program, everyone enjoyed a fancy dessert with coffee or juice. Master of ceremonies Debbie Hembery thanked all who attended as well as those who have made donations and have otherwise helped the dance club.
