The annual Edam Ladies' Bonspiel was held on the weekend of Feb. 8 and 9 with eight rinks taking part. The first draw was on the ice at 7 p.m. and the second draw at 9 p.m. The games started again at 10 a.m. Saturday with draws at noon, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. A banquet was held with games and door prizes. A $10 charge per plate for the supper was donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
First in the A event was taken by Joan Sansregret, Gisele Blais, Debbie Iwanchuk, and Bernice Chasse, while Pauline Kobes, Bernie Cadrain, Sherrie Morin and Jamie Dunlop placing second. The B event was won by Brenda Pollard, Janet Englot, Sonia Englot and Leslie Pollard, and second went to Charlene Shutra, Shannon Stabbler, Shelbi Prescesky and Bobbi Prescesky. Winning the C event was Darcy de Montarnal, Karen McCaffrey, Michelle Roach and Lisa Blaquiere, second to Twila Doom, Colleen Cole, Julie Levasseur and Angela Blanchette. Third in the C went to Wanda Weber, Huguette Johnson, Blair Chapman and Susan Cadrin, and fourth to Stefanie Rogers, Carol Baillargeon, Chelsey Doom and Karryn Hall.
The diamond ring draw was won by Barb Johnson and the Relay for Life raffle of a refreshment basket was won by Shelbi Prescesky. Congratulations to the organizers on a fun filled weekend, the sponsors as well as the caterer who prepared supper.
The monthly Handi-Van bingo for February was also held on the evening of Feb. 8. Winning the hams were Jean Pollard, Colleen Cole, Annette Blaquiere, Ruth Bec (3), Jessie Armstrong, Gisele Bec, Dora Greening, Sandra Clarke. The winner of the blackout for a hamper was Marion Ottas. Winning the evening's children's prizes were Kyle Morin and Macey Levasseur. Be sure to take part in the next bingo March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the seniors' centre.
Winners of the trip of the month draw for January were Valere and Marie-Ann Corbeil of Jackfish Lake with Adrian and Laura LaClare of Edam winning $100. The 2013 50/50 draw winners were Pat and Elaine Delainey of Aquadeo taking home $1,060.
