Sakewew holding powwow for elders and youth

Sakewew High School, which celebrated its 10th anniversary Oct. 11, will be holding an "Honouring Our Elders and Youth" powwow Oct. 25. The event will be held at the school, located at 11805-8th Ave. starting at 10 a.m., with the grand entry at 11 a.

Sakewew High School, which celebrated its 10th anniversary Oct. 11, will be holding an "Honouring Our Elders and Youth" powwow Oct. 25.

The event will be held at the school, located at 11805-8th Ave. starting at 10 a.m., with the grand entry at 11 a.m.

Ruben Littlehead of Tongue River, Mont. will serve as the MC for the day. The powwow will also feature various dance categories including chicken, traditional and grass. A giveaway ceremony will also be conducted and lunch will be served.

Celeste Tootoosis, the cultural co-ordinator for the school and the organizer for the event, is looking forward to another successful powwow, explaining that everyone is welcome to attend.

"It will be a day for everyone to enjoy and take part in."

The community high school will also be holding a 10th anniversary meal Oct. 25 for elders and staff at the Gold Ridge Center in North Battleford.
