Remember the Battleford Sailing Club open house being held in Meota June 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. On July 25 and 26 they will hold their annual Regatta, at Meota and will be holding a sailing school in July. Every Wednesday evening there will be fun racing with socializing and learning  experiences. For more information call Joe at 306-481-5414.

The Spiritwood Museum is holding a celebration June 6, again a gathering of old folks and old friends.

The top scores at duplicate bridge at the Do Drop In on June 26 were Vern Iverson and Lucille Gregoire, second were Margaret Dyck and Dave Creegan and third were Ray and Marnie Davies.

The library hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. There are 305 libraries in the province and they all share material. Have you tried out the Tumblebooks for children? Go to . and sign on with your library card and let the fun begin.

Have you checked out the concession at the beach? I am looking forward to the great choice of office cream flavours, weekend treats and specials that Gloria is offering, all summer. Go on Facebook for events and announcements.

The farmers’ market will open on June 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phone Sylvia at 306-892-2524 to book a table or more information.

Travelling through the Prince George area, we again saw damage of caterpillars eating the poplar leaves south of town. Last year they seemed to be east of town. Otherwise the scenery has been fantastic, the many shades of green are endless. The rivers and lakes among the mountains, with little wind ever, has been great and the reflective scenes, endless. There are an unusual number of campers on the road already and the traffic everywhere, especially on the Yellowhead heading to the coast. There is only one road in and out between Prince George and Prince Rupert, so if nature decides to close the highway with a variety of options, folks will be closed off from the rest of the world for a while.  West of Smithers there is one road going north, but who wants to head to Alaska?

There was snow on the mountain tops and the Coquihalla highway last week and the weather stayed cool. It is now warming up and the rivers will be rising again.

We enjoyed meeting more relatives for supper in Prince George Sunday and were so pleased because everyone is busy with their families and grad exercises have started. My grandson in Calgary, Eric Sandstrom, graduated with a class of 450 students May 25. His grandparents, Albert and Donna Lambert of Leduc, Alta., were pleased to be able to attend. Accompanying Donna on her return trip from Aunt Clare's service in North Battleford was Al's sister Mickey, who had been visiting in the Battlefords area.
