After the summer break the first St. Walburg Royal Purple meeting took place Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck supper and business meeting conducted by HRL Georgina Schneider that followed.

Welcomed were Joan Harrison, Audrey Griffith, Lillian Garrett and Olga Bendal, who brought the travelling gavel from North Battleford lodge.

Anyone interested in going to the 38th annual walkathon in Moose Jaw in October can get information from the secretary. There were no applications for membership, but we are always eager to welcome new members. We do need to maintain and increase membership to enable us to continue supporting monetary requests. For example, at this meeting, $1,000 was granted to the group putting on Culture Days. But, we can give only if we are actively fundraising, for which we need bodies to do the work.

Lunch committee for October, November and December is Lillian Nasby, Erma Kuchler and Inge Knopf. Melva Madden, Georgina Schneider, Kim Rendle, Lynn Pierson, Judy Helperl, Donna Hall, Dorothea Hocher, Joyce Fowler and Betty Malanchuk have celebrated birthdays since the last meeting.

Regular seniors' dinner began Sept. 12 and will be hosted every two weeks. The annual corn roast was held at Elks Exalted Ruler Dennis Schlekewy's yard Sept. 13.

Next meeting is Oct. 14 and District Deputy Dorothea Hocher will make her official visit that evening.
