The staff of Canadian Artiques Roadshow have chosen the Battlefords Food Bank as the charity to receive proceeds from their event at the Frontier Mall April 2 to 5.
According to a press release, the roadshow staff understand the demands food banks are always facing and without which many folks go hungry.
In addition to putting dollars back into the community through the purchase of antiques, gold and silver, the roadshow has designated the local food bank to benefit from their activities in the Battlefords.
"Over the many years that we have been on tours across Canada the roadshow has uncovered millions of dollars in art and antiques," states staff writer Amy Luccianio in a press release.
" … recently we have set up a gold and silver buying service at each roadshow that puts hundreds of thousands of dollars back into the communities."
The roadshow employs a gold and silver evaluator, who determines the purity of each piece of jewelry and then weighs them individually.
Also purchased at each roadshow are coins, with Luccianio describing individuals bringing in a handful of coins, or boxes and bags full.
"There is an old saying, not everything that glitters is gold, but if it is, it's worth finding out," Lucciano says.
And by taking advantage of the Canadian Artiques Roadshow, individuals in the Battlefords and area can also support a local cause.
