Part of the last paragraph of one of my news items in last week's paper was left out. Harry leaves his wife of 61 years, his sister, Helena, sisters-in-law Evelyn Janus of Mission B.C., Evelyn Janus of Maidstone nephews and nieces to whom we send out deepest sympathy.
Lyle Sutherland is spending a short holiday with his mother, Ruth Sutherland and other family members. In recent years he has been living and working in British Columbia. He is presently recovering from heart surgery. We wish him a speedy return to good health.
Several people from Waseca including Arlee Lumgair, Sandra Sutherland and Bev and Vic Hult travelled to the RM of Paynton's 100th birthday celebration. They took in the Brad Johner performance held at the former school gym. The musicians included Brad Johner, his family and a family friend. The music was wonderful.
For many students the summer has gone all too quickly. Classes begin again Sept. 3. We wish all students a happy and profitable year.
Congratulations to Katlin Pegg and Cory Duchener who were married Aug. 17 at an interesting ceremony held on the banks of a stream which runs into the Battle River. The reception was held in a tent near the home of the groom's parents with a gift opening the following day.
Did you know the month of August was named by Emperor Agustus Caesar in the year 30 BC? He regarded it as a fortunate month being that in which he had won several victories in battle.
