If there is any takeaway this month it is knowing another month of winter is over and the days are clearly a little longer.
What鈥檚 the latest at the rink? SWHL is over, as declared by president Joe Cey as of Jan. 16. Curling ice has been removed and the season is officially over. A decision on hockey and skating programs remains in the balance. For the time being, eight-player practices are continuing as are skating club practices. There are also public skating and shinny options.
Household batteries can now be recycled at Sarcan. Sarcan also has a list of acceptable electronics on their website. Unity Community Resource Centre also has a list on their Facebook page. Loraas also has a website which shows acceptable items in the blue bins. The Co-op food store has a bin for recycling plastic shopping bags.
Even though the national Welcome Wagon program closed their doors for good in May of 2020, Unity still has a Welcome Wagon program thanks to donations from community businesses. You can contact the town office for more details on how to contribute or to let them know of someone new to town.
Unity Credit Union made a $830 donation to the library from their dress-down days. Staff pay for the privilege of dressing down each Friday and choose a local charity or organization to donate these funds to.
With Valentine鈥檚 Day approaching, remember restaurants and theatre as your is needed during these times of reduced options for providing their products and services. We appreciate them all.
