The Wilkie Life Association held their annual fundraiser on Nov. 14 at St. James Catholic Church in Wilkie. The evening social, "Come Celebrate," was a family celebration that more than 100 people attended, filling every set up table. A sold-out bake sale, along with many varieties of goodies sold, including Monks Coffee and Tea, Christmas cakes, ornaments and cards, helped raise money that will be donated to groups devoted to the support of life issues.

Door prizes and great food were also supplied. Up for raffle were a gingerbread house and a gingerbread sleigh.

The evening was also full of family focused entertainment. Marie Siminot from St. Walburg, a well- known speaker on family and life issues, presented the crowd with a humorous yet heartfelt talk about the preciousness of life as well as the trials and joys of family life.

Guests were treated to music by The St. James Junior Choir along with a special song sang by three of the choir members. Tish Ulrich, secretary of the association, said, "We want to raise awareness for the Wilkie Life Association because life is so special and it's our obligation to protect it from conception to old age."

With that comes the encouragement for any new persons wanting to join the association to feel welcome to do so. The Wilkie Life Association would like to thank all in attendance at this year's social for their support and look forward to hosting another successful fundraising social event next fall.
