Radisson Ag Society gymkhana entries were down this year with only 13 riders taking part, Aug. 9.
In the peewee events, Cash Bezdel was the only entrant and he placed first in six events, won the high point money and also the youngest competitor cash. In juniors, high point winner was Rayna Yasienuik of Hafford with four firsts and a third. Cabri Tanchak had one first and four seconds, Kyle Striger had two seconds and two thirds, Tristan Flath had two thirds and Spencer Flath and Teaira Tracksell one first each.
In intermediates, Tiana Striger won the high point cash with three firsts and two thirds. Chantelle McLeod had three thirds, Cyane Sperle had four seconds and a first while Madison Flath had one first and one third.
In seniors, Michelle Van de Meutter was high point winner with three firsts, a second and a third. Nelda Swystun had two seconds and three thirds and Layna Sidebottom, with two horses, had two firsts, two seconds and a third.
In the Gretna Green event, Madison was first, Tiana second and Kyle third. In the hide race, Keara Amson was first, Madison second and the Strigers third. In jackpot barrel racing, Nelda was first, Tiana second and Chantelle third.
The Radisson Fair light horse show results were as follows. The halter champion was shown by Shealyne Rease Fehr and reserve by Hunter Matycio. For juniors, 11 years and under, Kylie Willms was first in showmanship, English pleasure and English equitation and second in Western pleasure, horsemanship and trail and was the high point winner. Hunter Matycio was second in showmanship, first in Western pleasure and horsemanship, first in trail and won the Earl McKellar family award for junior Western high point. Teaira Tracksell was second in English pleasure and English Equitation.
In intermediates, 12 - 14 years, Caitlyn Ireland was first in both English classes and Western horsemanship, second in Western pleasure and won the high point cash. Brittney Krammer was second in the two English classes and first in Western pleasure and Kelsey Conant was second in Western horsemanship and trail.
For seniors, 15 -17 years: Josie Sparrow was first in showmanship and in Western pleasure; Shealynne Rease Fehr was second in showmanship, first in English pleasure and second in Western horsemanship; Hailey Paluk was second in both English classes, second in Western pleasure, first in Western horsemanship and trail, third in stake and won the high point for seniors.
Adults, 18 and over, Nikita Fehr was first in English pleasure and second in English horsemanship, second in the two Western classes, first in stake class and tied for high point with Rebecca Katz who was first and second in the English classes, first in showmanship, second in stake and first in western pleasure. Kimberley Demyon was second in English equitation, first in command class and second and third in stake classes. Dana Dernoski was first in Jack Benny, (over 39), second in Command class and first in stake while Brittney Beres was second. Orest Demyon was second in the Jack Benny class.
In riding pairs, first went to Hailey Paluk and Kelsey Conant, second to Dana Derenoski and Brittney Beres and third to Chantelle McLeod andTeaira Tracksell. The youngest competitor award was split between two eight-year-olds, Kylie Willms and Hunter Matycio.
The Borden 4-H Light Horse Club held their achievement day Aug. 16 at the Borden sports ground, with seven members participating, six of whom rode their horses in the events and games. Shawna Langer did not ride due to a broken bone in her foot. The judge was Niki Fehr from Hague who was in 4-H over 10 years and trains and shows horses.
In record books and judging, in juniors Teaira Tracksell got 90 per cent and 11 out of 20 and Savannah Sutherland got 88 per cent and 10 out of 20. Spencer Thiessen had no book and got six out of 20 in judging. In intermediates, Cassidy Serhienko got 78 per cent and 12 out of 20, Shawna Langer got 56 per cent and 11 out of 20, Colton Thiessen got 14out of 20 but had no record book. Chantelle McLeod in seniors got 90 per cent and nine out of 20.
In showmanship for juniors first went to Teaira , second to Savannah and third to Spencer. For intermediates, Cassidy was first and Colton second. Chantelle was first in seniors in all the classes, including the English riding pleasure class. In the English pleasure class, Savannah was first in juniors.
In Western pleasure, first went to Savannah, second to Teaira and third to Spencer in juniors and, in intermediates, first to Cassidy and second to Colton. In juniors' pattern riding, first went to Teaira, second to Savannah and third to Spencer. In intermediates, Cassidy was first and Colton second.
After lunch the members played games on horses. In the egg and spoon event, results were first Colton, second Cassidy and third Chantelle. In walk and lead, Colton was first and Teaira second. In egg stomp, Teaira was first, Spencer second, Colton third and, Cassidy fourth. In the egg relay, the team of Teaira, Chantelle and Colton were first. In the scattered egg stomp first was Spencer, second Teaira and third Cassidy. In the slowest horse walking race first was Cassidy, second Spencer and third Savannah.
There was a trail class race with one adult running in front of the rider over two jumps and weaving around posts. It was a timed event, and the winner was Colton; second was Chantelle and third was Teaira.
Registration for 2014-15 is Sept. 11 at the riding arena of Alana Gunch at 7 p.m. There will be a time for riding so members can bring their horses or use some of Alana's. New members are always welcome to join.
Condolences are extended to the families from Radisson and area of Val Rothenburger whose service was held Aug. 11 in Saskatoon and of Stan Bandur whose service was held in Hafford Aug. 12 with burial and lunch in Radisson. Stan was 93 years, a veteran of the war, a long-time Royal Canadian Legion member and had served on the Radisson Board of Trade and as town councillor. Condolences also to the family of Mac Scott who died Aug. 10 at the age of 86 years. He had farmed at Radisson before retiring to Saskatoon and the service was held Aug. 15 in the Dalmeny JJ Loewen Community Centre.
