Residents mark milestone birthdays

It's April 30 and still feels like winter. We even got more snow a couple of days ago. The next worry is flooding in many areas. Namely Radisson, Borden and Maidstone are having businesses and homes threatened with so much water.

It's April 30 and still feels like winter. We even got more snow a couple of days ago. The next worry is flooding in many areas. Namely Radisson, Borden and Maidstone are having businesses and homes threatened with so much water. Hopefully with more seasonal temperatures in May the drying period will begin and "spring" will really have "spring."

In spite of the weather the activities are being carried on here in the Tower.

George Milnthorpe celebrated his 85th birthday here in the lounge on April 12 . Many of his friends came to enjoy ice cream and cake served by George and Nancy. Congratulations, George.

Also, happy birthday to Hilda Lessing who was 81 years on April 24.

Many happy returns of the day go out to our March and April celebrants who are: March - Joan Blixrud, Mary Dearborn, Laurine Wolberg, Eleanor Matthews and Mary Birch; April - Ernie Wawryk, Hilda Andres, George Milnthorp, Alpha Schmirler, Bev McCrimmon, Margaret Jimmy, Hilda Lessing and Thelma Kendall.

We had a lovely afternoon of music by the Eagle Hill Band and a social get together of enjoying dessert and visiting.

Anna Storgard will soon be going to visit her family and friends in San Diego, Calif. I hope you find nicer weather there than has been here, Anna. Enjoy yourself.

Shelly Bacheldor will be attending a wedding in Mayfair on May 11. Hope you have a wonderful time, Shelly.

Mary Birch will be going to Nanaimo, B.C. to visit her daughter Valerie for three weeks in July. I'm sure you will have a lovely time with your family, Alice.

Life very much changed for Ann Ewanchuk since she lost her sister Nell in Coquitlam B.C. Now she has only memories. Her brother Louie from Kamloops, B.C. visited Nell every day for two and half weeks. Last Friday Louie had a serious six hour surgery in Kamloops Hospital removing a tumour from his brain.

Anne's son Roman got her a ticket to attend the dinner theatre at Mayfair. Her daughter Erinka and hubby Rory drove her to see the huge snow pile in the Whitkow district and ended up at Orest and Chrissy's place.

With son Roman she attended a funeral in Saskatoon. It was for Calvin Severs, the husband of her niece Irene (Spak) Severes. She said it was nice to see her nephews Danny Spak, Van and his brother Larry from Quebec.

Last Friday Anne said it was a very emotional time as she was present at the burning of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost. All that is left is the memories of the young ladies who helped keep the church clean and the names and faces of those who were members.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Joe Thomas. Joe passed away recently and was a resident here in the Tower. We will all miss him. Also our condolences got out to Anne Ewanchuk whose sister passed away in British Columbia. We are thinking of you, Anne.

I understand that some residents here are still battling the flu. I do hope you will all soon be feeling better.

Maybe when I write my next report, it will be about our lovely spring weather.

See you and take care.
