Well, February may be the shortest month but it seemed to me to be the coldest. I guess it was those windy days. Anyway, it's often said, if you live in Saskatchewan our topic of conversation tends to be around the weather, good or bad.
However, it was a fairly busy month here in Tower II. Feb. 12, Katie and Orville Fehr celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a come and go tea in the lounge. Many of their family and friends attended to wish them well. It was a lovely afternoon of visiting and refreshments. Congratulations to you both.
Feb. 13, Bob Sarrasin and his helpers put on a delicious Valentine brunch of sausage, pancakes, strawberries and whipped cream for us all. Thank you to all the cooks and waiters and waitresses.
We had an enjoyable shuffleboard tournament Feb. 16 and 17. There were eight teams participating and, after much fun and playing, the winners of the A event were Edith Lockhart and George Milnthorp. B event winners were Winifred Webb and Laurine Wohlberg and the C event was won by Bob Sarrasin and Rosemarie Rohleiser.
Thank you to Ida Baker and her helpers who provided the lunch for the two days. Also to Anne Ewanchuk who baked a beautifully decorated chiffon cake to be raffled. All the proceeds from our two days of lunch and raffle went to the heart fund.
We don't seem or want to go long without a tasty meal from the Second to None caterers. This time it was Swiss steak and trimmings. It goes without saying we thoroughly enjoyed it all.
The entertainment later was by the Rhythm Ramblers, ending a nice social evening.
Get well wishes go out to Doris and Linda Kohlman who are both in the hospital. All of us here miss them and hope they get better soon.
Welcome to all our newcomers, which have been many recently. Please come join us in our activities in the lounge so we will get to know one another better.
I can't end this report by not saying "hurrah" to Saskatchewan's Amber Holland and her curling team for winning the Scotties Tournament of Hearts We are all very proud of you.
