During the December festive season, many people are thinking of gift giving and searching for ideas. It was no different in December 1913, when advertisements in the local newspaper of the day attempted to provide inspiration. A look at two such advertisements, taken from The News, Dec. 18, 1913, reveals that the prices were certainly enticing, but how happy would one be to receive such gifts? They were perfect for 1913, but strangely unsuitable for 2012.

There will also be a booth set up at the Territorial Mall Dec. 18 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. providing you with the opportunity to view and purchase the book as well as other 2013 Centennial Merchandise.
