The restoration of the old antique tractors continues on at the Western Development Museum in North Battleford. Neil Milman of Maymont and Stanley Mills of Baljennie have spent some time at the museum workshop, along with the help of other voluntees. It's only a start as there is muck to work at to get these old tractors running again.

Sympathy to the families of Beverly Tornberg of Battleford on her recent passing. Bev and her husband Roy were active with their horses at the Western Development Museum, plus many other events and activities.

The school bus in our area did not run for a few days due to the extreme cold temperatures, blowing snow and roads closed for a short time. We have had a good old fashioned January to remember. The snow cover is deep with additions of two to six inches at a time. Then the wind blows and the snow moves in to fill in the roads and farm yards. Snow plows and the grader and front end push blades have been kept busy trying to keep the roads open.

Baljennie Community Club held a meeting at the home of Joan and Bill Rayner Jan. 26. Some final issues were resolved to do with the closure of the co-op part of the club. It has involved extensive paperwork and telephone calls. A new community and cemetery club will start up shortly, but it's not all a go yet. Our membership is low and the older people are not able to keep up with all the maintenance and repair to be done on the community centre to keep it going. An agreement is in process on the title of the landowners. Hopefully to be all settled shortly and the club can keep going for a year or two yet.

Many of these little local owned community clubs are coming to an end. The interest in the younger people seems to be almost gone. Their interests are elsewhere. We are sorry to hear of Eagle Hills Community Club is shutting down. You will be missed. Over the years, the Battlefords Treasure Hunters Club made many uses of the yard and centre.

Groundhog Day has passed. Many areas where he did appear, the skies were cloudy and that meant spring was just around the corner and he may even stay above the ground. It was a different story in the local area, where he certainly did see his shadow, as we had a bright sunny day and back into his den he went quickly where it was cozy and warm. We now look forward to more snow and nasty weather before our spring arrives, as that is always the way in our part of the world.
