How many of you have been enjoying this gorgeous weather we have been experiencing? Feb. 6, four places in the province including Regina broke a record when the temperature rose to 9 C.

Most of the province had raging winds gusting up to 90 km/h. How many shingles did rooftops lose? The needles on our spruce trees were scattered a distance from the trees, lying on top of the snow and vehicles. It did get calmer early Sunday morning and I noticed beautiful fluffy pink clouds floating in the northern sky and even in the afternoon. Well, at least the sun did shine on those two days, but previously throughout last week, it felt like dreary, sunless November.

Workers are needed for the following bingos at Gamex Bingo in North Battleford – Feb. 16, March 5 and March 17. If you can volunteer, please contact Alice at 306-246-4212.

Robert, Brett, Carmen and Christine, children of Valerie and Rick Taylor, hosted a lovely 50th anniversary come and go tea this past Saturday at Mayfair Hall. Robert, a massage therapist, lives near Moncton, N.B., and doesn't travel back to Saskatchewan often. Brett lives on a farm near Leask. Carmen, a real estate salesperson, resides in Calgary, Alta. and Christine, a caregiver, lives in Radway, Alta. Another daughter, Tracey, passed away 12 years ago, but her husband and family from Craik also participated in this family occasion.

All of Rick and Val's children have offspring who do not see each other often because of geographical distances. They have 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The CWL was in charge of the delicious lunch, feeding approximately 75 people.

The Taylors thanked everyone for attending and were very appreciative of everything. In the evening, a church mass was held in their honour, which made their day a very special one.

My Yuma, Ariz. relatives, who enjoy warmer weather during the winter months, report that this has been long-sleeved top and pants weather. Daytime temperatures hover around 15 C, thus even making golfing not as enticing. Hopefully by the time I get there, it will have warmed up considerably. The snowbird population has dwindled slightly due to the low Canadian dollar.

The ladies appear to be getting a lot accomplished at craft day, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Pack up your craft and come enjoy the company of others in the library sitting room once a week.

Julie (nee Salisbury) and Jack Scott and family plan to move into their large, newly-built home on the farm at Mullingar. They outgrew their previous home and the children will look forward to running and playing in the new environment.

Mayfair Library now has Hoopla, which allows patrons to borrow free digital movies, ebooks and music 24/7 with their library cards. Visit Teresa Toews at the library for more information.

Condolences to the Ed Chudy family on his recent passing. His aunt, Kacey Chudy, lives in Rabbit Lake Rose Gill Lodge.

Ruby Rafuse's son Shane from near Edmonton helped her move items to her new place in Parkview Manor, North Battleford, and also took many useful things on his flat deck trailer back home. Ruby has also packed her half-ton truck many times to relocate her belongings.

Willie and Marguerite Wintonyk will also be moving to Caleb Manor in North Battleford this spring. She will be there to celebrate her 80th birthday this May and her nine children are planning a celebration in her honour.

Kevin, Lauren and Holden Liebaert are in the process of moving back to Mayfair, as Trican has cut back on their employees due to the falling oil prices. They still own a house trailer in Mayfair, so have a place to live. Brandon, Man. has been their place of residence for the last few years.

This is the year of the zodiac sign monkey, and the Chinese have celebrated their Lunar New Year Feb. 8. The past few weeks, grocery stores advertised specials for Chinese cultural food and all the trimmings.

Mark your calendar for Feb. 13, as there is going to be a Valentine dine and dance in Rabbit Lake. Electric Cattle Company, a well-known band, is to be the highlight of the evening. For more information, call Joan at the Rabbit Lake Hotel.

Most local schools still let the younger grades have a Valentine party in which the students are encouraged to give Valentines to all of the others in the classroom. Hopefully this tradition will stay for a long time. Happy Valentine's Day.
