Records broken at K-6 track and field meet

The elementary track and field meet was held for the students from kindergarten to Grade 6 June 3. The day started around 10 a.m. The weather co-operated and there was an excellent turnout of spectators.

No medals are given in kindergarten as they are just learning what is required, however records are being kept. Kobi Weber and Bram Jullion were the top point-getters with 20 points; Kesler Wall was runner-up with 16 points. Kobi Weber threw 15.75m in ball throw and broke Carter Cole's record of 12.58m. Kobi also jumped 125cm in standing jump, breaking Meadow Carver's record of 115cm.

For six-year-old boys: top point-getter was Carter Cole with 35 points and runner-up was Brady Carr with 33 points. Records that were broken were: ball throw by Brady with a throw of 25.70m, old record held by Owen Orchison's throw of 18.47m; standing jump by Carter of 1.50m, over Gage McDonald's 1.44m; 50m dash by Carter in 9.38 seconds, over Kasen McDonald's 9.54 seconds; 200m dash by Carter in 40.62 sec over Kasen McDonald's 41.87 seconds.

For six-year-old girls, the top point-getter was Jaycee Letwinetz with 21 points; runner-up Brook Mack had 19 points. There were no new records; however, there are only three girls in Grade 1.

Among the seven- and eight-year-old boys, top point-getter was Gage McDonald with 38 points and runner-up was Kasen McDonald with 36 points. Records broken were: long jump, Gage tied Tyson Orchison's record of 2.92m; standing jump by Carston Day of 1.59m, over the record shared by Lee Bonsan, Cameron Becotte and Gage McDonald; 50m dash by Kasen of 8.71 seconds over Gage McDonald's 9.06 seconds.

For girls, ages seven and eight, the top point-getter was Allison Blanchette with 40 points and runner-up was Mia Weber with 34 points. Breaking records were: ball throw by Randi Carr of 20.20m, tied with Ava Cole's record; standing jump by Allison of 1.60m over Ava Cole's 1.52m; 50m dash by Allison in 8.91 secconds over Ava Cole's 9.0 seconds; 100m dash by Allison in 17.57 seconds over Ava Cole's 18.03 seconds; 200m dash by Allison in 39.40 seconds over Ava Cole's 39.96 seconds.

For nine- and 10-year-old boys, top point-getter was Tyson Orchison with 30 points and runner-up was Lee Bonsan with 28 points. The only record broken was Parker Miller's 38.23m ball throw over Brady Deobald's record of 38.08m.

The nine- and 10-year-old girls' top point-getter was Ava Cole with 38 points and runner-up was Adriana Burgess with 34 points. Record breakers were Abbey Harty's 170cm in standing jump over Abby Millard's record of 168cm; Nadian Holloway's 113cm high jump over the record of 111cm held by Adriana Burgess and Jade Cole; and Leah Bec with a 16.19 second 100m dash, over Jade Cole's 16.47 sec.

Among the 11- and12-year-old boys, Jaxon Harty was top point-getter with 16 points and Kyler Lascelle was runner-up with 12 points. There were no new records.

For 11- and 12-year-old girls, top point-getter was Jade Cole with 40 points and runner-up was Jacinda McConnell with 18. New records were: long jump, Jade, 3.47m over Jaime Millard's 3.34m; ball throw, Jade, 38.53m over Macey Levasseur's 35.55m; standing jump, Bailey Cole, 1.69m, tied with Natasha Nedelec; triple jump, Jade, 7.82m over Raina Cole's 6.69m; 100m dash, Jade, 15.78 seconds, over Hailey Brennan's 16.06 seconds; 400m, Cole, one minute 19.25 seconds over Trinity Froese's one minute 28.13 seconds.

A baby shower was held May 31 for the son of Amy and Ben Lenko at the home of Amy's parents, Lyle and Sharon Olson. Family and friends gathered to welcome Luke Benjamin Lenko. Also in attendance was Luke's great-grandmother, Joyce Olson of Mervin.
