The countdown to Christmas is on. The Waseca Recreation Board members are sponsoring an evening of caroling, part of which is visiting homes to carol. This year it will be on the evening of Dec. 14. All interested people are invited to come and join in as the group visits and brings joy to the homes on their way. The group will meet at the community centre. For times and a few more details watch for posters.

The village council and recreation board will be sponsoring the fourth annual Waseca Christmas Lighting Program. Members of the board will be judging. The Christmas lighting appears to get better every year.

Arlee Lumgair spent the past weekend in Meadow Lake watching her grandchildren take part in the annual Meadow Lake Christmas parade.

A new committee formed recently in the village is the Playground Committee. Members are Leslie Gray, Tamara Snell, Vanessa Nelson, Lori Schenker and Tenile Pluhowy. This group, after much discussion, decided they could work together to improve the playground facilities in the village. The approached the village council and recreation board, who are backing their efforts. The group is planning their first fundraiser, which will take place the afternoon of Dec. 16 at Waseca Hall. The many activities planned include a bake sale and turkey shoot. Watch for posters giving more details.

A group of ladies has spent time at the Lloydminster Farmers' Market selling Waseca cookbooks and t-shirts. Both items would make excellent Christmas gifts. Proceeds will go Waseca Community centre. Both items can be purchased at Waseca village office.

Thank you to Doug McLaine for donating Christmas decorations to the village, some of which can be seen shining brightly on the village office.

Leslie Gray has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Waseca Recreation Board.
