Hot summer weather accompanied Paynton artists Mariann Taubensee and Ellery Russell to Outlook this past week.

From July 23 to 29, the Reartcycle Group Inc. held an art symposium. Sculptures made from reclaimed metal and other mediafrom farmers' fields will line the roadway leading into Outlook until this weekend, Aug 4 and 5 when they will be on display at the LCBI campus in Outlook.

An 11-foot tallhockey player, sun and moon sculpture, sandhill crane,a Picasoesque monkeyand an abstract or two rounded out this year's event.

Members of Reartcycle range in age from 10 to over 65 and each member has their own view on what one piece of metal can be turned into.

Along with the sculptures created at the symposium, several other types of sculpture will be shown at the two-day exhibit. There are talks about the monumental sculptures lining the pathway of the Canada Trail. I will keep you updated to see what happens.

If you are looking for a break from the lake or just need a mini vacation, head out to Outlook Saturday between noon and 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
