Interested ratepayers of the RM of Glenside met at the Baljennie Community Centre for an information meeting on recent happenings within the municipality. There was a good turnout present. The meeting led to a follow up RM of Glenside public ratepayers' of Glenside at the New Horizons Centre in Biggar Dec. 10. There has not been a ratepayers meeting for a good many years. Letters were to be sent out to all ratepayers to notify them of the meeting. Its just too bad all ratepayers didn't get the letter. At least the meeting notice was published in the local newspapers to let everyone know. The meeting was well attended and many issues were discussed. Maralyn Wintersgill was appointed to be chairperson for the meeting.

Sympathy goes out to the Falcon and Pritchard families of Cando and North Battleford on the recent passing of Norman Falcon of North Battleford. Norman spent a few years living in our area at the George Pritchard camp. He married Hilda Pritchard and raised their family before moving on and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary a few days after he passed away.

White-tailed deer hunting season has just closed in our area. Now there seems to be so many more deer about after the hunting season. The hunting season did not slow them down much. We have a lot of mule deer about as well. They are all having a good feast on the crops that did not get harvested.

Our weather has not made too much change in the past month or so. Lots of foggy days to make frosty trees, like a livery Christmas card. The snow continues to fall every day. Not too many sunny days and days are still getting shorter. There is a lot of snow built up in some areas. A high wind would really create an old fashioned blizzard. At least we will be having a white Christmas for sure. Not too cold yet, that's still to come.

The RM patrol grader has been having a hard time keeping up the main open. With only one patrol working, the road clearing has been going slowly. The RM has many roads to clean. Main and school bus roads are first to be cleared.

Most small towns, homes and downtown North Battleford have taken on the Christmas look with coloured lights and decorations. Shoppers are all out deciding what to get that's new and different for a Christmas gift. Christmas is less than two weeks away, so it's time to fill out your gift list.

My husband Stanley and I would like to extend a very merry Christmas greeting and happy New Year and all the best of 2013 to the Battlefords Publishing staff, country correspondents, columnists and to all our friends and a very special greetings to all the readers of Baljennie news. News items at times are hard to get, but I will try to do my best for the upcoming year.

Merry Christmas to all. See you next year!
