What a beautiful fall and what a beautiful rain! After about six weeks of no rain and perfect harvest conditions, we finally received about half an inch of welcome precipitation this week. Some farmers were hoping for rain to help mature the canola; others were hoping for rain to reduce the fire risk.
The Rabbit Lake Board of Trade has a new face at the table. Brenda Aumack has taken the job of secretary.
The Rabbit Lake Community Hall board hosted the annual Thanksgiving supper at the hall, Oct. 8. Approximately 335 people enjoyed turkey and all the trimmings. Since harvest was all but finished, people had time to relax and visit, unlike most other years. As this is a fundraiser for the hall, the hall board was happy with the end result.
Approximately 200 people gathered again at the hall Oct. 9 to celebrate the 28 years of work that Don and Naomi Unger have undertaken in the Hoffnungsfelder communities. After a morning church service at which Jerry Buhler, Mennonite Conference pastor spoke, the group tied into another complete hot turkey dinner. After dinner Don and Naomi were treated to an afternoon of celebration. Guests of the Ungers included many of Don's and Naomi's siblings as well as their children Vivian, Jeanette and Greg, along with their spouses and families. The afternoon concluded with "faspa", a smaller lunch where a retirement cake was enjoyed. The hall was beautifully decorated for Thanksgiving by some of the Mennonite Church members.

Rose Gill Lodge and the Village of Rabbit Lake welcomes Jean Walker from Spiritwood as its newest resident. With Jean now living here, the lodge is full at its capacity of 17.
Rabbit Lake Seniors hosted the monthly potluck supper Oct 19.
Rose Gill Lodge will be hosting the annual Halloween dance at the hall Oct. 29. Start thinking of a good costume!
