Rain doesn't stop the music lovers at Carlton Trail Jamboree

What a weekend -July 8, 9, and 10 - rain, rain and more rain didn't stop music lovers from watching the fantastic performers at the Carlton Trail Jamboree. I know I don't report for Rabbit Lake, but I was there and would like to add my two cents.

Trick Ryders played in the beer gardens and also performed on the main stage Saturday. They had a mix of contemporary and classic country and everything in between and were fantastic.

Other performers were: Jaydee Bixby, the fifth season Canadian Idol runner-up (check out his fans); the Stampeders (no, not the Calgary Stampeders), a little older but they can sure belt out those tunes; and Emerson Drive, a band that began with a high school talent contest. Don't give up if you have talent; you never know where you might land. Emerson Drive also performed at the 2011 CCMA awards.

Darrel Delaronde and Saskia were great hosts. To Joan and the rest of the organizing committee: great job. Thanks for the great weekend and for all the hard work you do to organize this wonderful event.

Colleen Soule was also at Rabbit Lake, celebrating her birthday. I hope you had a good weekend, Colleen. Next year both of us will celebrate our 65th birthdays there.

Friends and family gathered at the farm of Doug and Colleen Prescesky for the afternoon wedding of Brennan and Joelene, July 2. Brennan is the son of Doug and Colleen Prescesky and Joelene is the daughter of Rob and Kathy Gabrysh. Brennan was accompanied by Jeremy Prescesky, Scott Merrick, Josh Prescesky and Brett Gray. The bride was accompanied by her twin sister Jaylene as well as by Kristina Gabrysh, Krista Lutz and Jessica Gray. Norah Merrick, niece of the groom, was the flower girl. Following the ceremony, presided over by Joyce Salie, the guests enjoyed the perfect weather and lovely decorated yard. The newlyweds were able to socialize and receive best wishes from everyone before going to the reception and dance at the Alex Dillabough Centre in Battleford. Congratulations, Brennan and Joelene, from everyone in the community. We are so glad to have you live close by.

On a sadder note we'd like to send our condolences to Jack Alm whose wife passed away. Jack joins us for some of our jam sessions and also at our hall.
