The Borden Farmers Market in the Borden Fire Hall opens at 11 a.m. Fridays. It has been open for two weeks and each Friday has been very busy, especially for the food booth that I run with the help of church people. We went through over 100 hamburgers and over 30 hotdogs last Friday. I also sell books for author Donna Miller along with tickets and paperback books.
Vendors at the market May 9 were Helen Sutherland selling eggs and her pies, Arlene Proctor with honey and beeswax candles, Karen Kerr selling baking and preserves, Eileen Petrun and Natalie Gramiak with baking, Sandi Bader with jewelry and different crafts and antiques and Wendy Weiland with her handmade jewelry and handmade lotions, cards, etc. Rita/Bill Shukin and Connie/Daryl Kinaken have plants, baking, grains, crafts, books, etc. There are still two more vendors to come in on May 16 - Elizabeth Derksen with baking and Marlene Matthew with hand-sewn bags and hats. Coffee and juice donations help pay for the supplies and about half of the proceeds are donated to the Borden volunteer firefighters at the end of the year.
