Radisson parade draws 134 entries

Radisson Parade had 134 entries and was led by school children holding the 100-year banner. Flag bearers were Earl Kieper and Allison Sutherland and parade marshal was retired Colonel Larry Crabb and his wife Helen.

Radisson Parade had 134 entries and was led by school children holding the 100-year banner. Flag bearers were Earl Kieper and Allison Sutherland and parade marshal was retired Colonel Larry Crabb and his wife Helen.

Other entries included dignitaries, floats, the Prince Albert Highlander Pipes and Drums, decorated bikes, vintage cars and machinery, horse drawn vehicles and horseback riders.

Other attractions on the weekend were touring the Zion Museum, pony rides for the kids, a dance Saturday evening put on by Radisson Fire Department.

Earning recognition at the Radisson Fair was Carter Amson who won high point special of $20 in Section 3, grain and forage sheaves. Placing in Section 5 garden fruits were Connie Verishine, Darlene Kindt and Shantel Amson

Others winning were: Section 7 domestic products - Linda Yuskiw, Loretta Flath and Darlene Kindt; Section 9 outdoor flowers - Cathy Miller and Joyce Schultz; in house plants - Norma Amson; in art open class - Alisha Hamp, C. Beaudoin and Renata Aukenbrand; in 4-H activity - Cole Reid, Hunter Reid, Kendal Venne, and the Yaseniuks - Courtney, Justin, Tyler and Kolten, all from Hafford.

Earning high points in the gymkhana events Aug. 10 were: peewee - Teaira Tracksell, junior - Rayna Yaseniuk, intermediate - Cyanne Sperle and seniors - Earl Kieper. The youngest competitor was Caslyn McLean.

In peewees, Teaira Tracksell was first in walk and lead, egg stomp, musical tires, egg and spoon race, barrel race and pole bending. Caslyn McLean was second in walk and lead, egg stomp, musical tires and pole bending and third in egg and spoon race. Kendal Venne was second in egg and spoon race third in walk and lead, and barrels. Elissa McLean was second in barrels, third in musical tires, pole bending and egg stomp.

In juniors, Rayna Yaseniuk was first in walk and lead, potato race, key hole, barrels and pole bending and second in egg stomp. Keara Amson was second in walk and lead and potato race and third in key hole and barrel race. Danika Diceman was second in key hole, barrels, pole bending and third in potato race.

In intermediates, Cyane Sperle, riding two different horses, was first in egg stomp, potato race, key hole, barrels, second in key hole, pole bending and third in barrel. Bailey Yaseniuk was second in egg stomp, third in potato race, key hole and pole bending. Chantelle McLeod was second in potato race and barrels. Jocelyn Bzdel was third in egg stomp.

Ins Earl Kieper was first in egg stomp, key hole, Gretna green, hide race and pole bending and third in key hole. Michelle Van DeNeuton was first in key hole and third in egg stomp and barrels. Courtney Pearson was first and second in barrels, third in pole bending and first in jackpot barrels. Nelda Swystun was second in pole bending and third in hide race. Kelly Friedricks was second in Gretna Green and third in potato race. Alana Webb was second in hide race and egg stomp. Vaun McLean was first in potato race. Kristy Fyson was second in potato race and jackpot barrels and Taya Richardson was second in key hole.
