Eight quilt tops were sewn by the Rivers' Edge members at a recent meeting of the guild.

Rivers' Edge Quilters' have had a busy September and October, getting back to sewing after a great summer.

At a recent meeting, seven members participated in sewing two different two color block samples, the Pretty Pansies pattern taught by Arlene Schwab and the Arrowhead pattern taught by Darlene Hiltz.

The participants sewed amazing blocks with no sweat triangles and corners that joined perfectly. They all looked great.

The guild scheduled two days this year to sew comfort quilts for the community. Carol Johnson treated eight members to packages which each contained 72 five-inch squares. Then, with a Baby Charms pattern and a package of precut squares, we enjoyed sewing the quilt tops. Each quilt top was unique. The extra five precut packages have been taken home by members who will sew the tops at home. Thanks to everyone who participated, even one member who came to help us iron.

Barb Sealy brought her completed quit, all quilted and bound, to our meeting. Others are still finishing their quilts and some have recruited other members to quilt them. Some of these quilts will be donated to the Empty Stocking Fund.

Classes for October include sewing mitred corner place mats, an iPod cover, a log cabin table runner and a Christmas stocking. This makes an enjoyable busy sewing schedule.

"When life gives you scraps, sew quilts," it really is therapeutic.
