Hello again, quilting fans. The Rivers' Edge Quilters had their monthly meeting Nov. 2. Members meet the first Friday of every month.

Last month, special guest was Gail Bertoia from Cut Knife. She demonstrated how to make a quilted Christmas stocking and brought with her a "trunk show." She has made an amazing number of wall hangings and runners that were beautifully quilted and reflected themes for all seasons. A special touch was a unique label on the back of each one.

Members are trying to finish comfort quilts. Three have been donated to Interval House and the rest will be donated to the Food Bank to be included in Christmas hampers.

Interval House could find a home for sheets and blankets that are in good condition. The animal shelter has use for scatter mats, old towels and fleece sheets.

The next projects we will be quilting are iPad covers, zippered portfolios and shopping bags. Dianne showed us how to create a jellyroll pattern. At show and tell we admired completed stockings, mitred place mats and log cabin table runners.

Barb Sealy showed us the lined shoe bag she received at a quilt show in Halifax.

There is an art show coming up Nov. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some members will be selling their work. See you there.

Another fabric sale will happen Nov. 23 for members and is open to the public Nov. 24 at 10 a.m.
