The Western Development Museum has seen constant activity over the past few weeks as volunteers have been doing the necessary work to preserve the various buildings in the Heritage Village display.
Supervisor Patricia Malo and Army cadets Nicole Frenchman, Zachauriah Houges, Riley Heyden and Devlin Alm together with CN veteran fireman Zenko Baziuk helped apply the final coats of paint on former CN caboose 78338.
The North Saskatchewan Regiment Army Cadet Corps No. 2537, through Captain Marnell Weikle, engage in public service as part of the cadet training and hard work in hot sun was the order of the day.
Battlefords  and District Co-op made a donation of brushes and paint rollers to apply the additional coats of paint that are so necessary to protect the outdoor artifacts from our wonderful Saskatchewan weather.
The Canadian National Railway station has had new cedar shingles installed.
The WDM says it is impossible to overstate the importance of the railway and the station to the existence of prairie villages. The train brought new settlers, mail and supplies and took grain and other farm products to market.
Almost all railway depots in Western Canada included living accommodation for the station master and his family.
